Episode 42: London Calling (The Clash)

The Clash

In this episode, Bethanne takes us on the journey of The Clash, from the height of punk to their ultimate decline and breakup. We talk about what it meant to be a punk band in this era, and the impact that their greatest album, London Calling, has made on history.

Show Notes and Images

Inspired by the Sex Pistols, The Clash led a career of pure punk chaos. Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simono, and Topper Headon may have picked up their instruments later in life, but that didn’t stop them from becoming one of the most well-known and celebrated bands of all time.

This episode talks about their time playing pub rock (which is exactly what it sounds like), some questionable naming choices (they have since apologized for) and the story behind that iconic London Calling album cover.
